Ms. Goncalves’ professional activities include service on the Board of Directors of Rhode Island Legal Services and a number of other professional memberships. She is currently a member of the Rhode Island Supreme Court's Committee on Character and Fitness and was formerly a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association’s House of Delegates. She is also a member of the Thurgood Marshall Law Society, the Permanent Advisory Committee on Women and Minorities in the Courts and the Rhode Island Bar Foundation.

Ms. Goncalves contributes her time to a number of community efforts. She is a member of the Greater Providence R.I. Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and is the Chair of its Arts Committee. She serves on the Board of Advisors of Roger Williams University School of Law and is also a mentor for the Multi-Cultural Law Students Association. Ms. Goncalves is a former Trustee of the Providence Public Library.
